(More customer reviews)Easy to assemble using instructions that are, for the most part clear.Rack and pinion travel a little rough but can be eased with WD40.Arbor-chuck runout small, quite a bit less than 1/64", perhaps less than 1/256" as judged visually.This runout is considerably less than frequently produced by drills and Forstner bits themselves.I therefore expect runout to be dominated by the inadequacies of the bits rather than of the Rikon machine.With the chuck centered over the table, the perpendicular distance from the chuck axis to the surface of the support post is about 15" making this drill press approximately equivalent to a 30" unit.So, if you are wondering whether your add-on woodworker's drill press table will fit it or are wondering which add-on table to buy, you can use these dimensions as a guide.I doubt there is any commercially advertised add-on table available to the home woodworker that will fail to fit the Rikon 30-140.

This drill press is similar to the Grizzly model 7945, but differs somewhat in specs so the machines are not identical.No problems encountered with my unit anything like those described in reviews of the Grizzly machine here on Amazon.com.Although the Grizzly is considerably lower in price, the added cost of shipping brings the total up to the price of this Rikon 30-140 which Amazon shipped to me free-of-charge.Rikon advertises ISO 9001 certification for its manufacturing facility and 6 sigma management philosophy.I have found nothing so far with the Rikon 30-140 to suggest otherwise.

I have limited my rating to 3 stars due to lack of experience using the machine.Based only on the ease of assembly and the little runout I have observed, I would rate it 4 stars.If travel over the racks were smoother in addition, I would rate it 5 stars with the understanding that the rating is preliminary.

To sum it up so far, this appears to be a well built, competent machine for the home woodworking shop and probably also for the small commercial shop.
